Dead Zone Questions

From Sun-Sentinel's Q & A

Q. I have become engrossed in the Anthony Michael Hall program The Dead Zone. In watching the end credits, I noticed the name Michael Piller. Is this the same Michael Piller who produced many of the Star Trek programs? Also, what's your take on The Dead Zone? -- D.K., Davie

A. Michael Piller, whose son Shawn also has a creator's credit for The Dead Zone, was a writer for Star Trek: The Next Generation and helped create Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Voyager. I'm not a sci-fi buff so I haven't seen enough of The Dead Zone to offer an informed opinion.

Cronenberg, Talks About History of Violence

Jamcanoe.ca catches up with David Cronenberg.

Even though he did not originate the story, Cronenberg does feels connected to it in strange ways -- as he does to all of his film projects. "They're all highly personal," Cronenberg says. "I didn't write the script of Spider, either. It was based on a novel (and someone else wrote the script). The Dead Zone, which I did about 20 years ago, was based on a novel and I didn't write that script either. Now, in each case, I'm very involved with the script and, in the case of this movie, I did do a rewrite myself."

Dead Zone Review from Blogcritics.org

The Dead Zone. Right after I complain about the lack of mythology, they respond with the season finale, bringing Stillson back into the picture. A boating accident prompts Stillson to enlist the aid of his sworn enemy, Johnny. This may not have been exactly what I was hoping for, but it does show how the perceived Armageddon can be changed. The key is to put together all the pieces to gain a favorable outcome. Can Johnny find the right combination? ***

The Dead Zone Gets A Slap On The Hand

From Idaho Statesman, The Dead Zone and few other series get a slap on the hand for lack of originality and being part of a trend.

A disturbing expansion of episodes in which young women are brutally held captive. That's in the premiere episodes of "Criminal Minds," "Close to Home" and "Killer Instinct," just as it was this summer in the debut of "The Inside" and the season-opener of "The Dead Zone."

Sean Patrick Flanery's "Into The Fire" Info

From Canyon-News

Phelan was inspired to make “Into The Fire” from experiences on Christmas Day in 2000, at a time of personal loss and solitude. The indie film depicts characters facing tough times and coming to terms with what is important in life. Sean Patrick Flanery (Walter Hartwig Jr.) is a workaholic, troubled lieutenant of the NYC Harbor Police who freezes during a rescue attempt, and somehow has to find peace within himself and the victim’s twin. Melina Kanakaredes (Catrina/Sabrina Hampton) from TV’s “Providence,” also stars along with Jobeth Williams

According to the director, the film was shot in 19 days, and each day was filled with beautiful stories of the cast and crew working together. Michael Phelan’s “Into The Fire” will be released on Sept. 23 in theatres. You can visit the film's Web site at www.intothefire.info. Enrapturing, opulently touching, "Into the Fire" is a movie no one should miss.
