I think that’s why his ownership of the main character in the TV series The Dead Zone—injured, weary, apart, miraculously and dubiously gifted—is so total. It’s an emotionally dusky show, but look how his humour somehow makes it in there. I loved Christopher Walken in that role—Johnny, the reluctant psychic—and sometimes I think the movie The Dead Zone is my favourite thing that he or David Cronenberg have ever done. I didn’t think I’d go for the TV version, but it caught me. It’s all about Hall. He produces it too—I’m telling you, the guy’s still got some surprises in him. It may sound nuts to you, but I can imagine him ageing into some kind of American Victor Sjostrom, tapped at eighty-something to anchor some twenty-first century filmic masterpiece, the equivalent of Wild Strawberries for a generation that today is barely out of diapers. You watch.

At the 2005 MTV Movie Awards, to air June 9, the network plans to reunite the cast of the classic '80s movie, the cable channel said Friday.

Though Emilio Estevez, who played Andrew Clark, isn't confirmed, in attendance will be Molly Ringwald (Claire Standish), Ally Sheedy (Allison Reynolds), Anthony Michael Hall (Brian Johnson) and Judd Nelson (John Bender).

Yellowcard will perform the single "Don't You Forget About Me" from the 1985 film, directed by John Hughes.

This year's awards will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon. To be taped June 4 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, scheduled performers include Mariah Carey, Eminem and Nine Inch Nails

LIVELY ZONE: Anthony Michael Hall, whose fourth season of "The Dead Zone" begins airing on the USA Network June 12 (on the heels of the June 7 release of Season 3 on DVD) is proud of being part of the vanguard of cable series "that showed the networks they can't sleep during the summer."

Not that Hall has anything against the nets, especially what with USA Network now being "part of the NBC family. They're going to run ads that 30 million people will see." What with the network's fortunes of late, we can only hope
