Lion's Gate Up For Grabs?

Sources said a logical buyer would be entertainment empire Viacom, whose Showtime network and Paramount movie and TV studio divisions are involved in several deals and ventures with the indie movie company, including hit USA Network series "The Dead Zone."

Lions Gate boasts a vast library. It has 8,000 titles from "Dirty Dancing" to independent film hits like the critically acclaimed "Monster's Ball." And potential new hits are on the way, like Kevin Spacey's upcoming Bobby Darin biopic "Beyond the Sea."

A sale would likely mean a big windfall for Lions Gate's star-studded list of investors, which includes "Benefactor" billionaire Mark Cuban, J.P. Morgan Chase president Jamie Dimon and veteran media investor Gordon Crawford of Capital Research and Management, as well as Fidelity Investors. They've already seen the stock jump nearly fourfold since the beginning of last year.

David Ogden Stiers narrates The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce DVD

Full Article

The DVD also takes the viewer up to Depoe Bay (with its spouting horn) and Lincoln City (where it highlights the casino and factory outlet stores). It heads east along Yaquina Bay Road (with its eagles, egrets and osprey) to Toledo (with its art and antique shops), and south to the sculpture gardens of Seal Rock, to Waldport for crabbing and claming and then to Yachats, "gem of the Oregon Coast.

If the voice on the DVD sounds familiar, it's because David Ogden Stiers narrates it. Frank Geltner of the Oregon Coast Council on the Arts obtained Stiers' participation in the project.

Richard Lewis As Jack Jerico Gets A Mention

at the Omaha World Herald

I recently saw Richard Lewis on "The Dead Zone." I remember him from a series years ago, but can't remember what it was. Please help.

D.W., Ely, Nev.

A. The comedian/actor has starred or co-starred in a number of TV series. Maybe you remember him opposite Jamie Lee Curtis in "Anything But Love" (1989) or in "Daddy Dearest" (1993). He's also credited with "Rude Awakening," "Hiller and Diller," and "Harry." Besides his recent guest starring role as Jack Jericho on USA cable's "The Dead Zone," Lewis is a regular on "Curb Your Enthusiasm" as Larry David's real-life pal.
