Paramount, CBS TV units merge

Viacom divisions Paramount International Television and CBS Broadcast International have been merged under the new banner of CBS Paramount International Television. CBI president Armando Nunez Jr. will head the new entity, it was announced Tuesday. Gary Marenzi, president of Paramount International Television for the past seven years, will be exiting his post. Marenzi was reportedly informed of the move early Tuesday while vacationing in Italy. He was unavailable for comment. The move represents the first major restructuring ordered by Leslie Moonves since he assumed oversight of Paramount's television operations with his promotion to co-president and co-chief operating officer at Viacom in early June. Said Moonves in announcing the merger: "This restructuring will help maximize our programming resources, efficiently streamline our overseas distribution and establish a programming pipeline that can have a huge impact in the global marketplace
