SANTA MONICA, CA (May XX, 2004)— Lions Gate Home Entertainment, a division of Lions Gate Entertainment (AMEX and TSX: LGF), will release the entire second season of USA Network’s critically acclaimed drama The Dead Zone on June 8. Based on characters from the Stephen King novel, the series, produced by Lions Gate Television and Paramount International Television, stars Anthony Michael Hall (61*, The Pirates of Silicon Valley, Sixteen Candles) as Johnny Smith, a man injured in a near-fatal car crash who emerges from a six-year coma with startling psychic abilities that allow him to see into the past and future through visions triggered by touch.

Created for television by acclaimed writer-executive producer Michael Piller (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager) and his son, producer Shawn Piller, The Dead Zone has been hailed by TV Guide as "fiendishly clever," by the New York Daily News as "eerily enjoyable" and by Star magazine as "the most intense sci-fi series since The X-Files." Praised by Entertainment Weekly for "his haunting performance," Anthony Michael Hall heads an outstanding ensemble cast that includes Nicole deBoer (Cube, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) who was recently named by SCI FI magazine as "one of the sexiest women in sci-fi," Chris Bruno (Another World), John L. Adams (Pacific Blue) and three-time Emmy nominee David Ogden Stiers (Curse of the Jade Scorpion).

Presented in widescreen format, the digitally mastered 5-disc DVD set The Dead Zone Season 2 features 5.1 Dolby Digital Sound and includes all 19 episodes, totaling 822 minutes of programming. With a street date timed to coincide with The Dead Zone’s third season premiere, this collectors set also contains an abundance of special features, including "The Making of an Episode," interviews and audio commentary by Anthony Michael Hall and multiple episode director Michael Robison, commentary from such special guest stars as Louis Gossett, Jr. (Iron Eagle) and Reiko Aylesworth (24), as well as deleted scenes and story boards. The DVD set has a suggested retail price of $49.98. The title has a pre-book date of May 18.

CONSUMER ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN
Lions Gate Home Entertainment will support the release of The Dead Zone Season 2 with a comprehensive, targeted consumer advertising campaign, highlighted by television spots during the premiere of the third season on June 6, plus tags on all Season 3 episodes, and tagged ads on USA Network’s print media campaign. In addition, Lions Gate will offer consumers a $10 mail-in rebate with the purchase of The Dead Zone Season 1 and Season 2 sets.
THE DEAD ZONE – SEASON 2 SYNOPSIS
The Dead Zone is a unique psychological thriller combining action, romance and the paranormal with a continuing quest for justice. Johnny Smith (Hall) had a nearly perfect life…until the day it was interrupted by a near-fatal car crash that left him in a deep coma. Now, more than six years later, Johnny has awakened to a world in which he has lost everything that mattered to him most. But Johnny himself is also not the same person he once was: he is now in possession of amazing extrasensory powers that allow him to see into the past and the future through startlingly vivid visions triggered by touch. These powers have been activated by Johnny’s trauma in the so-called "dead zone" of the normal human brain. Unable to ignore his visions, especially when others are at risk, he is pulled between an ordinary and extraordinary life as he struggles to come to terms with his gift and the enormous responsibilities and public attention that come with it.

The series is produced by Lions Gate Television and Paramount International Television in association with Piller² and The Segan Company. Michael Piller, Lloyd Segan (The Bachelor, Boondock Saints, Bones) and Karl Schaefer (Strange Luck, Eerie, Indiana) are executive producers.
