DAVID OGDEN STIERS FANS IN LI GET A TREAT
Long Island International Film Expo will screen some 60 films tomorrow through July 17 at the Malverne Cinema 4 and (on closing night only) the Bellmore Movies.

For instance, the opening night feature, "The Stand-In," is the first feature film of Good to Be Seen Films, a Summit, N.J., company founded in 1997 by actor Robbie Bryan. Bryan, who wrote the semi-autobiographical screenplay of "The Stand-In," stars as a fellow who jettisons law school to follow his dream of becoming an actor. And what does he become? Hint: Check out that film title. (Bryan, by the way, was Michael J. Fox's longtime movie stand-in.)

The film co-stars Kelly Ripa, David Ogden Stiers, Judith Ivey and Lou Myers. "It was the most commercial, family-oriented film that we had. And it seemed the perfect film for the opening," Markowitz said.

SCI FI NOT AIR DEAD ZONE

Sci Fi is set continue its streak of airing short-lived network series as the cable channel has picked up the repeat rights to ABC's "Timecop." The drama, based on the feature of the same name, will air Fridays at 7:00/6:00c beginning July 11. To make room for the series, Sci Fi has benched its encores of USA's "The Dead Zone" for the time being.

AMH SPEAKS ON BACKSTAGE .COM
Great article talks about his starting out in acting and his feelings on The Dead Zone. (see below)

Hall is heading into his second season (airing on Sun. July 6) on USA's The Dead Zone a series based on the Steven King novel of the same name. "It came to me as an offer," Hall recalled. "I read the script and I was blown away. I was really excited about it. The first thing I said to myself was, I am not going to emulate on any level what Christopher Walken did in the film. There are enough people who try to imitate him. But I watched the film, and the thing I thought was cool was, he wore a peacoat and carried a cane. I started to figure out what the look and feel of the character was." After completing the show's second season, Hall is thrilled that six more episodes have been ordered. "If it does continue on," he said, "I'm prepared to continue to do the work, and if not, I feel good about what I've done."

Of his craft, he said, "One of the things that I am proud about the show is that we've done many episodes where you're getting these little movies. I made a note to myself early last season to treat each episode like the biggest movie I've ever made. I sort of blurred that line, and I don't draw any distinctions between television and film acting. Fifteen years ago, there was a very different perception about acting on TV. It was like, Ah ha, you've fallen, and you're on TV. Now all the TV stars have film deals. But with this show, I've definitely grown as an actor. It's taught me a lot about what it's like to be a leading man."

He is also developing and writing a project based on a true story about a boxer in the early 1980s, Billy Ray Collins. Said Hall, "I directed a film for Showtime when I first came out here. I moved out here to direct this film called Hail Caesar. It was a little comedy that I did with Sam Jackson, Robert Downey Jr., and Frank Gorshin. That was a great experience, and I would love to direct again. Directing a film teaches you what you don't know about directing. And it gives you a new respect for the screenplay or teleplay. I learned a lot."

They show up again in the San Francisco Examiner
And USA's "The Dead Zone" starts its new season Sunday night. If you haven't checked out "The Dead Zone"yet, I must tell you that it's worth a look just to see how grown-up Anthony Michael Hall is. A couple of minutes into an episode you'll completely forget that he was a "neo maxi zoom dweebie" in "The Breakfast Club."

DEAD ZONE GETS MENTION IN ARIZONA REPUBLIC
The summer episodes are action-oriented, Hall said. Stories will include Johnny facing a deadly storm, trying to solve the mystery of a deadly virus to save his son's life, and being recruited by government intelligence to track down the world's most-wanted terrorist.

DEAD ZONE IN CFQ
CFQ features a brief article on The Dead Zone

The thing we keep harping on,” he adds of the summer run, “is that we want to do episodes that could only be done on The Dead Zone. The concept allows us to do a lot of things that you just couldn’t do on any other show. Nothing would allow you the leeway we have both structurally and thematically and just in terms of plain storytelling. And then there’s Anthony Michael Hall, who is game for everything, the poor guy. Making the show is almost as hard as being Johnny Smith.

TREKWEB HAS NEW DEAD ZONE ARTICLE

"These episodes are more ambitious than any we've done before," says Hall. "We want them to breathe new life into the series and keep us on the air."

TVG says the seven new episodes, the first since an almost-finale in April ("Zion"), will include stories ranging from a killer tornado to the search for Osama Bin Laden. It's all part of s strategy to develop blockbuster-type stories to help reclaim audiences lost to stiff competition earlier this year.

SEXY SUMMER SEVEN MAKES THE PRESSES
This is not somebody who is a superhero, but a very real, human person who faces challenging and unique situations as he transitions in and out of visions,'' said Anthony Michael Hall, who stars in The Dead Zone, airing on Sundays at 10 p.m. on cable's USA Network.

The Dead Zone's second season, which began with 13 shows in January, has added seven new summer episodes that start on Sunday. The Dead Zone made its debut in June 2002, drawing a record 6.4 million viewers for an original basic cable drama series, USA Network said.

ANTHONY MICHAEL HALL ANSWERS MORE EMAILS FROM FANS!
Visit USA Network.com to read them all!
Q: I didn't start watching until the season premiere of the second season and instantly became hooked. I know the first season is coming out on DVD (I pre-ordered it already). Are you guys going to do the same with the second? It was by far the best season I have ever seen from any show on, ever.
- Ryan, Indiana

AMH: It all depends on how well the first season collection sells. We've been gathering interviews and other behind-the-scenes clips in anticipation of a second season DVD set. Thanks for buying the first season collection and for watching the show, tell your friends.

Q: Mr. Hall - One of the great things about The Dead Zone is the humour that gets injected into every episode. Now, you are obviously a very experienced and professional actor but still I can't help but wonder - have you got any stories about scenes from The Dead Zone that were difficult to complete because they made you laugh too much? I love the idea of filming being held up by someone with a fit of the giggles!
- Lozzie, United Kingdom

AMH: This happens on a daily basis. One of the great things about working on this series, and co-producing it, is the time spent with the cast and crew every day. Even though we work 13-15 hour days, we find time to have fun and laugh with or at each other. In the episode "Dinner with Dana," we had a hilarious 11-hour day shooting a scene that starts out with me in bed with the beautiful Kristen Dalton, only to finish with the entire cast in the bed, as well. We were laughing so hard, I'm lucky I didn't wet the bed.

There are so many really good questions this time around, there's not room for them all here. Find out AMH's favorite episode, which was hardest to film, his feelings on The Hunt. He squashes the rumour of a 32 Candles film as well.
Stop by and read them, they're great!

The summer cycle offers more than popcorn-munching adventures, however; it will also continue to explore the series-long story arcs that make the series emotionally satisfying. For the first time, THE DEAD ZONE will begin to lay the foundations for a relationship between Johnny and his son (will J.J. finally discover who his biological father is?). Also, look for new developments in the love triangle between Johnny, Sarah, and Dana. And, of course, the series mythology continues to unfold as Johnny struggles with his destiny, knowing that his ultimate mission is to somehow save the world from Armageddon.

Many spoilers through out the entire article, so don't read if you don't want to know!
