Lowe goes home for mysterious TNT mini 'Salem'
NEW YORK -- Rob Lowe has been tapped to star in the upcoming TNT miniseries "Stephen King's Salem's Lot." Scheduled to begin shooting in April in Melbourne, Australia, the four-hour program will be co-produced by TNT and Warner Bros. Television. The miniseries will air sometime next year. Based on the best-selling Stephen King book, "Salem's Lot" features Lowe as a journalist who returns to the small town where he grew up to investigate mysteries, including a stranger who turns out to be a vampire. Lowe also stars in the TNT movie "Framed," which premieres April 13. Executive producers are Mark Wolper ("The Mists of Avalon") of the Wolper Organization and Jeff Hayes of Coote/Hayes. Mikael Solomon ("Band of Brothers") will direct from a script by Peter Filardi ("Flatliners"). Lowe is repped by CAA and managed by Bernie Brillstein at Brillstein-Grey. (Andrew Wallenstein)
