Will cable win out over regular networks, by picking up the scripts that are being passed over to make way for a bombardment of even more Reality TV?
Programming originally intended for broadcast ending up on cable is not without precedent. USA's "The Dead Zone" was first developed at UPN. HBO's "The Sopranos"started as a script deal at Fox.
"If the networks move away from quality scripted programs and we continue to have success as a group with quality scripted programs, we think it's a big opportunity for cable in that more good material, talent and ideas would come our way," USA Networks president Doug Herzog said.
